what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Green Living Consulting Can i renew my green card if it expried 9 years ago and both of my parents are US citizens?

Question by : Can i renew my green card if it expried 9 years ago and both of my parents are US citizens?
Hi,

I got a green card when i was 12 years old in 1991 that expired in 2001.
Since i was 13 i have been living in Israel. As i have mentioned both of my parents are US citizens but got their citizenship after i was 18 so i was not entitled for an automatic citizenship.
I am 30 now and my green card has been expired for 9 years now.

Lately i have been offered a Job in the High Tech industry in New Jersey and i would like to move to the US with my wife and work there. My company and my parents can vouch for me.
Since my company have has some issues with issuing work Visa in the past they would like me to use my green card.

Is there any way that i might still be entitled for a green card ? can i renew my green card ? am i eligible for requesting a new green card? If so how long will the process take? i would like to start working as soon as possible.

hopefully someone can consult me,
Thanks

Green Living Forums Q&A: Getting Indian Passport (Born in Tibet, Studied in India, Married to Indian, living in USA)?

Question by Pema L: Getting Indian Passport (Born in Tibet, Studied in India, Married to Indian, living in USA)?
Sounds a little complicated.. Here is my situation.. I was born in Tibet but my parents moved to India right after my birth.. I did all my school and Bachelor’s from India. I worked for an Indian company for 3 years. Now I am in USA. and recently got married to an Indian. I have a Tibetan Green Book (travel document), which doesn’t have Indian Visa, so I cannot enter India.
Now I have consulted with few people and website.. and they say for me to get Indian identity/citizenship, either I should go to Indian Consulate and provide my proof of school in India in order for me to get Indian identity or use my marriage as my basis to get Indian Identity.

My husband and I both want to go back and settle down in India, and I really want to do it right. Hence I am reaching out to this forum to show me the right way

Best answer:

Answer by Lobsang Rawang Rangzen
You want to get India Visa?

hmmmm

Most of us refugees are not granted Citizenship by India. That is their policy. We have to renew it each year. But if you are married to Indian then i don’t know that works… there gotta be a better option than renew residence each yr..

Question by greyeyedgirl: What are some REALLY good restaurants in the Roseville, CA area?
I’m not talking TGIF kind of good. I’m talking – WOW – I’m eating amazing authentic food.

I’m looking for Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Thai, EVERYTHING!

We tried Mikuni Sushi – which was TOP rated and in all the magazines. ICK! It was exactly like a TGIF version of Japanese food. The Green Salad had some weird creamy Parmesan dressing – no carrot/ginger in sight. Retch!

HELP!

I have been living in NYC for 11 years and have been spoiled by amazing food. I am hoping to just find a few places I can get a great meal.

Green Living Roof Q&A: What color siding/trim with a dark green metal roof?

Question by arkmom: What color siding/trim with a dark green metal roof?
We live in a 70s contemporary 2 story house (3 counting walkout basement), very streamlined with tall windows and angular built-up roof (almost flat). We are adding a partially covered wrap around deck and a dark (Ivy Green) metal roof. Next we hope to get new siding and I’m looking for suggestions for the main and trim color. Our house is set in the woods so we want it to blend somewhat, yet bring it up to date with the changes we’re making. Thanks for your help!

Renewable Energy What are alternative energy and renewable energy used for?

Question by : What are alternative energy and renewable energy used for?
What and how are renewable energy used for? Uses such as green cars, lighting and heating. Pleease help me by explaining in detail how and why it works.

Best answer:

Answer by Alan W
Energy is simply energy – it is no colour. The green and alternative relate to how they are produced. So usually they will end up either as motive power for a vehicle or in the national grid along with all the non-green electricity made from coal. So what is it used for? The same as any other energy is used for.

Green Home Design Should green homes with solar power, energy savings technology?

Question by TheTribb: Should green homes with solar power, energy savings technology?
Tax exemptions to homes designed to save and create energy shoul be a national debate.

Best answer:

Answer by niteowl
I don’t even see the need to debate- they should be provided incentives to build them. It costs to build the technology into the homes, but once built they pay for themselves in savings.

Do you mean that discussion should be encouraged? yes by all means. And you’re doing that. thank you! Now write you legislators at all levels until one of them does something about it.

Pure Green Living Does Al Gore spread political propaganda?

Question by Jalapeno Farts: Does Al Gore spread political propaganda?
Read the link below and see how much truth is in Al Gore’s Video “an inconvenient truth”. Do you think “Global Warming” and “Green Living” are pure political propaganda and a way to raise new taxes? There is big business in the making (e.g. the palm oil industry) that harms earth rather than saving it, all in the name of “Green Living.” Do you think “Global Warming” is real and man-made or are we fooled by spreading fear?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/3310137/Al-Gores-nine-Inconvenient-Untruths.html

@ BROOOOK

turning the facts around here… I am looking for facts and I am educating myself on subject topic. You follow a propaganda. If you look any further, you’ll find a huge majority of scientist not approving the “Global Warming” Agenda. The so called facts you believe in are backed up by a minority of scientists on the payroll of big companies…

I think there is some man made global warming but no where near what Al “Hoots” Gore is out peddling, I bet if you look deep Al Gore and others that are pushing this Global Warming have money invested in Green Tech.
Other wise they would not be out there pushing this stuff, heck back in the 60`s and 70`s some of these same people were saying we are headed into another ice age.

They are pushing this so gov puts money in green tech .

Green Living Homes Are the poor bearing a disproportionate amount of the responsibility for green living?

green living homes
by itmpa

Question by Wooderson: Are the poor bearing a disproportionate amount of the responsibility for green living?
It seems to me that the wealthiest 10% of the population are doing about 90% of the polluting. They drive yachts, they fly private jets (and more commercial flying than middle class and poor), they have more cars (manufacturing pollution), they drive more miles (more pollution), they tend to have nonproductive/luxury type professions (movies, television, or executive positions), and they tend to have much larger houses (5,000, 6,000, 15,000 square feet), etc. The list goes on and on.

The carbon footprints of the wealthiest 10% of the population are HUGE, yet there is NO pressure from the left to tax them more for their polluting behaviors. There is NO pressure from the left for them to simply STOP polluting as much. There is NO call for movie stars, for example, to live in smaller homes and give up their jets. Why not?
shortstop — that doesn’t make sense. Rich people use fireplaces more than poor people, and they use them for pleasure (sometimes with multiple fireplaces in one home). Rich people do buy more cars, which is WORSE, because the pollution caused in the manufacturing of a new car is FAR worse than the pollution created in keeping a 5 or 10 year old car on the road for another couple of years. People who drive new cars every year are BIGGER polluters, not smaller.
Mike – sure, I can see the math numbers. However, before anyone has the gall to tell me I have to spend $ 1000 on a new furnace, I want the multi-millionaire to live in a 1500 square foot house. See what I mean? I may have a furnace from 1985, but I heat under 1500 square feet. Some guy with a 2007 high-tech furnace heating a 10,000 square foot house is FAR WORSE THAN ME!
Fluvial — I don’t think the movie stars are responsible for most pollution. I think that a movie star, however, is responsible for WAY MORE than me, you, and anyone else who is of middle or lower class. Therefore, before someone tells me I have to put on a new roof, re-insulate the place, and spend $ 1000 on a new furnace, I want THEM to not live so extravagantly.
Fluvial — yes, I understand that ExxonMobil had the biggest profits in history. One thing is for sure, though, is that ExxonMobil performs a necessary service. Without ExxonMobil, our cars won’t run. Being a movie star, or Al Gore, is a luxury.

Plus, I’m just talking about bearing disproportionate burden. If I earn a modest income, drive a modest car, and live in a modest house, why should I have to revamp my HVAC system before Al Gore, or Cheryl Crow? Why should I ever get rid of my SUV before John Travolta gets rid of his 5 airplanes parked in his front yard?
Belladonna — the line is simply drawn at — “how dare John Travolta tell me to stop driving an SUV when he has 5 planes in his yard?” That’s my point, in a nutshell.

Green Energy Live Given The Real Opportunity, Would You Live At A Resort That Was "Green" & Energy Positive?

Question by mylinkforever@yahoo.com: Given The Real Opportunity, Would You Live At A Resort That Was “Green” & Energy Positive?
“Energy Positive” means that the Resort would produce more energy than it uses….therefore helping the community that it’s built in and helping the planet!

Would you consider selling your current home and moving?
If leasing, would you move?
Would you invest a little extra for your new home if you knew that it would help your community and the planet?
How much more?
How soon would you move?

Clarifications: :
1. The word “Resort” does not mean it’s absent of businesses, art, culture, variety, job opportunities etc.
2. The words “Resort” & “Energy Positive” do not necessarily mean it’s expensive!
3. Our proposed Resorts will be located in Urban Areas world-wide & close to airports and other amenities!
4. Our proposed Resorts will be located next to major transportation…trolleys, trains, major freeways….ie: TODs Transportation Oriented Developments!
5. Our proposed Resorts are available for anyone and everyone….young & old…for buying Condos and leasing Apartments…and visitors!
6. Our proposed Resorts “separate” residents and visitors but everyone can enjoy the Resort!
7. We are not proposing Timeshares!
8 “Green” and “eco” are not fads! They encompass many industries and sectors and generate numerous benefits and values….. economically, politically, psychologically etc.

No My idea of going green is eliminating the middle man and that would be you . Besides i am green as it is . I built my own system which is very easy and doesn’t cost an arm and leg if you have the know how . The thing i can see is everyone is trying to cash in on green just as your resort is trying to do just as organic food is trying to do . Its not worth more but your putting a tag on it saying it is . So in reality its not about saving the planet to you its about the money. That’s what the problem is in the world why we don’t advance in technology and save the planet . Energy Efficient Homes How much energy does an energy-efficient home use?

Question by : How much energy does an energy-efficient home use?
Ideally, if one were to consider energy efficiency from the building process and utilized technologies such as compressed earth blocks, a geothermal heat transfer system, energy efficient windows and solar screens, in addition to energy efficient appliances and electronics throughout the home, approximately how much energy would such a home consume if you assume typical appliance/electronic usage? Assume a 2000~2400 square foot home in Texas. The idea would be to use solar panels to power the home. What about if you include powering an electric car into this demand (something like the upcoming Tesla Model S)?

Green Modular Homes Q&A: Sustainable Modular House, good investment?

Question by : Sustainable Modular House, good investment?
Hi I am doing a report for school. Can you see if this summary makes sense? Also if you have other questions, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Article: http://www.djc.com/news/en/12021147
Summary: Johnny Hartsfield was frustrated with the state of sustainable, affordable housing in Seattle. He and his best friend started GreenFab LLC in 2008. The company specializes in creating modular houses that is both sustainable and affordable. GreenFab, offers a basic LEED gold modular house, 1635 feet home with a low price range between $ 125-150/sf. The company also offers a full array of green feature upgrade options. Currently, the company first modular house which will be credited LEED Platinum, is being build in Seattle and will be completed in January. I find this really interesting and will probably tour the project once it is done. However, there are three questions that are rise :
1) Is this a short-term trend in Seattle?
2) Will the demand for building "sustainable, affordable" modular housing outweigh buying older housing in this market?
3) What about 10 years from now or when the market recovers?

Best answer:

Answer by cactusgene
1) The short-term trend in Seattle and elsewhere in the nation for sustainable green housing is good, especially with the relatively low quantities that GreenFab is able to produce. This is because “going green” is in the news a lot and the federal government is supporting the concept in words and in some instances with money and tax rebates.

However, the price of $ 125-150/sf. you quote above is NOT affordable or cheap for basically a kit home with substantial field assembly required. A modular home is shipped in relatively small sections and must be erected in place at a labor cost of at least 50% of standard stick built construction. I know, because I built one. Compare that to a manufactured home (formerly mobile home) which comes completely finished and assembled in say 2 sections, but is sold FOB factory for $ 50-$ 85/sf depending on quality. I have toured some of the $ 85 jobs erected in place. They are nice and only an expert can tell the difference from a stick-built house. So on price, GreenFab will not compete favorably.

2) Answer: No, because the price is too high as explained above.

3) The long-term trend for “green” housing is less certain. 80-90% of all buyers will not pay a premium for the green label. Besides “green” it is already available in stick-built construction at very little extra cost. It is distinctly possible that 10 years from now some of the greenhouse gas methodology may have been debunked and only a few people will still pay for it. I personally believe that it is a fad and will fade in time.

Sustainable Green Living Q&A: can you please help me with this about Sustainable Living?

Question by yahoo: can you please help me with this about Sustainable Living?
Making environmentally based commitments as a country raise other questions. Our collective resurces should benefit the country and not just individuals, right? To what extent should our government be investing in green technologies? Should we let these technologies fend for themselves in a world market or should we provide tax breaks and special funding to support them? Are these any areas of sustainablity that you would like to see the government support more/less substantially?

In Europe, there are a large subsidy in the area of alternative energy, including wind and solar energy. The subsidy includes both research and development, and consumers. In Japan, consumers will receive eco-points for green energy. Only in the US, the projects are deleted completely.

Question by amareia: How do you care for a Pear Tree?
I just recently purchased a house that has a pear tree in the front yard. It is fairly tall, and is bearing fruit. I do not have a green thumb at all. I live in Austin, Texas. How often do I water, fertilize, spray? Help!

Answer by Gayle C
Do nothing. The more you do for them the worse they get. Maybe a little water, but I have some in my back yard and I don’t do anything to them.

Green Living Room Walls I would love to do two adjacent living room walls newt green and the other 2 chocolate brown? What do you think?

Question by Faith Marie: I would love to do two adjacent living room walls newt green and the other 2 chocolate brown? What do you think?
I want to add interest to the living room but are two sets of “Accent walls” silly since there is no accented wall?
And NO I don’t have weird taste. Go to benjaminmoore.com and pick a room such as Living Room 6 and put in the wall color Newt Green and Ceiling Color Chocolate Candy Brown. The room should be Tawny Brown. Now if you do that and you don’t like, that’s your right. But you don’t have to criticize other people. Thanks for your input! :)

Eco Friendly Homes Q&A: What are some books that teach you how to build Eco Friendly homes?

Question by Beth: What are some books that teach you how to build Eco Friendly homes?
Im working on a plan to build a very small ECO FRIENDLY house. Its so little the correct term for it should be a shack. I want to buy some books that teach me how to build a house but in a completely eco friendly way. I want the house to be very Earthy and be close to the earth in perspective. I would prefer a book that shows me how to reuse discarded materials while making the house. I don’t want to buy many of the materials.

Best answer:

Answer by Michael W
Get mud and start making bricks.

Seriously WTF is all this ECO Friendly BS. Granted if you made your house out of plastic, you wouldnt be doing any good.

Make your house out of wood, insulate it with old newspaper. The logging Industry of the United States produces more wood then ever, they are also carefully planting more trees then ever as to not run out of wood. The industry is self-sustaining, meaning they govern themselves, as well as government regulations as to not cut more then they can replenish.

Buy wood, build a house. Most nails and screws are from recycled material in the first place, same goes for glass products. Get a wood stove for heat and you just might save the planet before you die, but probably not.
